The surface is crushed gravel and the grade is almost flat. Cell service along the river is extremely limited.
A weekend of trail running on the New River Trail in New River Trail State Park, Virginia, held at peak fall colors. Choose the 100 mile, 50 mile, 50k or 25k. The trail is a rails-to-trails path of crushed gravel along the New River, with trestles, rapids and Foster Falls, and very little elevation change. Everything starts and finishes at the Mark E Hufeisen Horse Center.

Turn RIGHT onto State Route 608 and continue for 374 feet. Turn RIGHT onto US-52 North and continue for 2.5 miles. Turn LEFT onto State Route 619 and continue for 6.7 miles. Turn LEFT onto VA-94 South / Ivanhoe Rd and continue for 4.0 miles. Turn LEFT onto Trestle Rd and continue for 0.5 miles. Turn LEFT onto New River Valley Trail State Park and continue for 0.1 miles.
