One course, run once, from Jerome to Flagstaff. It leaves the Gold King Mine Ghost Town, turns down through the middle of Jerome and drops a thousand feet in a mile onto the valley floor, crosses Clarkdale's main street and an old railway grade, and wades the Verde River knee-deep under the Tuzigoot pueblo before the first aid station at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. From there it is trail: the Lime Kiln, Schuerman Mountain and Ridge trails under Cathedral Rock, the Airport Loop around Sedona airport, then the Hangover Trail through the red rock spires and up Schnebly Hill Road onto the Coconino Plateau. The last fifty miles run forest road and single-track through the largest continuous ponderosa pine forest in the world, over Mars Hill past the Lowell Observatory, and down the Flagstaff Urban Trail System into Heritage Square.
The race gives the footing as single-track 62 percent, double-track 29 percent and pavement 9 percent. The course climbs 14,205 feet and drops 12,678 feet between a low point of 3,258 feet and a high point of 7,458 feet. The two ends of the day are different races: the lower ground can be very hot in the afternoon, and nights on the Coconino Plateau average in the upper 30s Fahrenheit, which the race warns is cold if anything goes wrong and a runner stops moving. Runners wade the Verde River knee-deep in the first ten miles and there is no keeping feet dry, and the trail from Dead Horse to Sedona can be very fine dust. Much of the Sedona single-track is chunky with baby-head sized rock, and the Kelly Canyon trails alternate between soft pine needle and chunky volcanic rock. A seven-mile stretch out of Dead Horse is a no-passing, no-leaving-the-trail section through endangered Arizona Cliffrose: single file, on the trail. There is good cell service along the course.
Sedona Canyons 125 runs 125 miles from the Gold King Mine Ghost Town above Jerome, Arizona, to Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff. It drops off the Black Hills into the Verde Valley, wades the Verde River knee-deep in the first ten miles, then turns north on a long run of single-track through Sedona's red rock canyons and around Airport Mesa. From Sedona the course climbs Schnebly Hill onto the Coconino Plateau and crosses ponderosa pine forest and the Flagstaff Urban Trail System to the finish. Aravaipa Running runs it in May over the same week as the Cocodona 250, on the northern half of that course, and gives runners 75 hours.
Aravaipa Running added the Sedona Canyons 125 in 2023, the year the Cocodona 250 course settled into the route it still runs, and built it on the northern half of that route, from Jerome to Flagstaff. Sixty-five runners started the first one and fifty-two finished. In 2026, 372 started and 269 finished.

These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.
Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.
This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.
Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.
We want the address of the file the race publishes, not the file. We download it from there so the page can say where the line came from.
We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.
Cutoffs move, races get postponed, lotteries open and close. We read the race's own sources and record where every fact came from. Put your email in and we will send you what changed, and where we read it.
No account, and nothing to cancel.
What happens to your email. Nothing else. I do not sell it, and I will not send you anything except this race changing. One click gets you out.
I keep this catalog because the information is scattered and hard to trust. Telling you when it moves is the same job.
NavRun builds your pacing from your own training, then turns it into a plan your crew can follow: when to leave and where to park.
