Last-person-standing running race. One 4.1667-mile trail loop every hour, on the hour, from 8 AM. From 8 PM the hourly loop moves to an out-and-back on the road, and at 8 AM it returns to the trail. It ends when one runner is left and that runner completes a loop alone.
Day loop (8 AM to 8 PM and again from 8 AM) uses local trails at Usery Mountain Regional Park. The night loop (8 PM to 8 AM) is an out-and-back on the road, per the race; the Big's registry entry calls it trail/dirt road. The race publishes no elevation. That registry entry lists 260 feet of climb per day loop and 179 feet per night loop. The night loop length is not published.
A backyard ultra at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona, with a running race and a separate rucking race. Everyone starts a loop every hour, on the hour, from 8 AM, and the day loop is on trail. At 8 PM the loop moves to the road, and at 8 AM it returns to the trail. There is also a Backyard 24 that stops at 24 hours. Put on by Kaniksu Ultras, a nonprofit supporting the SERE community; entrants can fundraise instead of paying.
