One distance, one start, and the only one the race offers. Out from ACE Adventure Resort to the Hawks Nest Aid Station at mile 53 and back the same way, with three stretches that are run only once: the Thurmond out and back at miles 14 to 20, the Long Point overlook at miles 37 to 38, and the Arrowhead trails loop at miles 66 to 70.5 on the way home. Twelve aid stations, and 32 hours.
Eighty-four of the hundred miles are trail, six are dirt road and ten are paved. The steepest section on the course is the wooden staircase up the Kaymoor Miners Trail at mile 35. Arbuckle Creek is crossed around mile 14 without a bridge, and it is the largest creek that has to be waded. Elsewhere there are a lot of wooden bridges, and the race asks runners not to run across them at pace because they are often extremely slippery and can have broken boards. Three of the road sections, Thurmond Road, Cunard Road and Fayette Station Road, are open to traffic during the race, and Fayette Station Road is the busiest park road on the course. The high point is 2,015 feet and the low point 823.
A hundred miles through the heart of New River Gorge National Park, and the first hundred-mile trail race in West Virginia. It is an out and back on singletrack and rail-trail that drops from the rim of the Gorge to the banks of the New River and climbs back out again, several times over. Along the way it passes waterfalls, whitewater, ghost towns, centuries-old cemeteries and abandoned mine shafts. Seventy-four of the hundred miles are on National Park Service land.
The first Rim to River 100 was run in November 2020, and it was the first hundred-mile race West Virginia had. Bryant and Laura Baker started Rim to River Endurance Co. that same year, alongside the non-profit Adventure Appalachia, which the race funds. Entry fees have paid for whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, zip-lining, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding trips for local high school students, and put eighteen of them through a Wilderness First Aid certification. The race moved from early November to late October in 2024.

These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.
Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.
This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.
Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.
We want the address of the file the race publishes, not the file. We download it from there so the page can say where the line came from.
We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.
NavRun builds your pacing from your own training, then turns it into a plan your crew can follow: when to leave and where to park.
