Free. You can start with nothing.

Free, and always will be. NavRun makes money from race-day planning for runners who want it, never from this. Ultras change constantly, sometimes the morning of. Always confirm with the race director and the official website before you rely on anything here.

The course

Where it goes point to point · 24 aid stations

Course line from the race's own GPX. Source file. Year of this file not known.

Point to point from Shane Kelly Park in Oviedo to Tosohatchee WMA, passing the 50 mile finish line, then a 25 mile out and back on dirt roads and Florida Trail with crew access for the final 50 miles.

Race director's words: "Because this race is 100% flat, you have to mix in PLANNED walking from the start." Roughly half the route through Tosohatchee is technical, winding Florida Trail with soft footing and mud, the other half dirt roads and easy trail. The race says 100 / 50 are 80% trail, with only 2 miles of pavement. All mileage is 'ish'.

The race

What this one is

A 100, 50, 15 and 8 mile trail race through Tosohatchee, Seminole Ranch, Charles Bronson State Forest and Little Big Econ State Forest in central Florida, much of it on the orange blazed Florida National Scenic Trail. The 100 and 50 start in Oviedo and run point to point to Tosohatchee WMA; the 15 and 8 are single loops the next morning.

Crew rules
One crew car per runner. Joshua Creek Trailhead (Phillips Rd) charges crew a daily fee. Tosohatchee WMA entry is $3 per person, exact change, per calendar day; one way in and out, off Taylor Creek Rd. Park on one side of the road only and do not block roads, trails, driveways or signs. docs.google.com
Pacer rules
100 miler runners may run with a pacer starting from mile 50 onwards in Tosohatchee. Pacers are REQUIRED to also fill out the FWC waiver. 1 pacer at a time. Can swap pacers at any other crew accessible aid station. docs.google.com
Drop bag rules
Clear Ziploc bag, 2.5 gallon max. Label name, bib number, aid station name. Bring all drop bags to the start line on race day. Bags go to Joshua Creek (mile 29.5) and Charlie Lake (miles 68, 72 and 84 per the handbook). Contents left behind are tossed or donated. docs.google.com
Cutoff philosophy
Please note that the cutoff times are listed as time of day. You must have left the aid station by this time, it is not how much time you have to get to it. The cutoffs let up as the race progresses to account for people slowing down. docs.google.com

What it looks like out there

Somebody has been out there with a camera the tables say the climb is long. these say what long feels like.

6 people have been out there with a camera or a microphone.

These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.

Ran this race? Tell the next runner what you know.

Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.

Leave blank if it applies to the whole race.

Leave blank if it is not about one particular stop.

Optional. Something like “Cal Street, mile 62 to 78”.

Write it the way you would say it to someone at the start line.

Optional, and it decides nothing. It only tells the next runner where this is coming from.

This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.

Optional. Filled in for you when you start from a specific line on the page.

Copy it as it appears, so we can find it.

Required. Where it came from: the race email, the runner manual, what you saw on the day.

Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.

We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.

Required, because this is a conversation and we write back.

Ultras change. We will tell you when this one does.

Cutoffs move, races get postponed, lotteries open and close. We read the race's own sources and record where every fact came from. Put your email in and we will send you what changed, and where we read it.

No account, and nothing to cancel.

What happens to your email. Nothing else. I do not sell it, and I will not send you anything except this race changing. One click gets you out.

I keep this catalog because the information is scattered and hard to trust. Telling you when it moves is the same job.
