From sunrise to sunset amidst the Chianti vineyards. A circular route that begins and ends in Radda in Chianti. The first 40 kilometres run through the Chianti Senese on swift, runnable ground. Then comes the climb towards San Michele Mountain, which peaks around 60 kilometres and is the biggest climb of the day, followed by the descent to Volpaia and the valley just before Radda in Chianti.
The opening 40 kilometres through the Chianti Senese are quick and runnable. The climb to San Michele Mountain around the 60 kilometre mark is the biggest of the course. The race's own profile puts the high point at 901 metres and the low point at 300 metres.
Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB is run every March in the Tuscan hills, out of the medieval village of Radda in Chianti. The courses cross vineyards, castles and the white gravel roads of the Chianti Senese, and they save the hardest climbing, Monte Luco and Monte San Michele, for the second half. Three races leave the same start line on Piazza Francesco Ferrucci in Radda: the 123 km Ultra Trail Chianti Castles, which passes 25 castles of the Ancient League of Chianti and carries two Golden Tickets to the Western States Endurance Run in each of the men's and women's races, the 73 km Chianti Ultra Trail, and the 10 km Chianti Wine Run.
The first Chianti Ultra Trail was run over 73 kilometres on 24 March 2018, and 197 runners finished it. A longer race, the Ultra Trail Chianti Castles, was added in 2022. The event joined the UTMB World Series after five editions, and the organisers say it has sold out every year since the first.

These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.
Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.
This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.
Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.
We want the address of the file the race publishes, not the file. We download it from there so the page can say where the line came from.
We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.
NavRun builds your pacing from your own training, then turns it into a plan your crew can follow: when to leave and where to park.
