The race

What this one is

A ~101 km (100.9 km measured) point-to-point trail race from Courmayeur, Italy to Chamonix, France, crossing Switzerland via the Grand Col Ferret, La Fouly, Champex-Lac and Trient. Known as the '100K Final' of the UTMB World Series and historically the 'little sister' of the UTMB 171 km race, sharing its finish line and week but starting a day later, from a different town, on a shorter route.

Crew rules
"Personal assistance" (not a running pacer) is permitted for CCC at exactly two intermediate points: Champex and Vallorcine. One assistant at a time, in an area reserved for this purpose, admitted by a numbered ticket (1 ticket = 1 person = 1 station, tickets issued in the bib envelope). The assistant may carry the runner ONE bag of at most 30 litres. Medical/paramedical assistance from this person is strictly forbidden (small comfort care such as a blister or massage is tolerated only with the runner seated, not lying down). Animals are not allowed in the assistance areas. No assistance at any other CCC checkpoint. montblanc.utmb.world
Pacer rules
UTMB Mont-Blanc races, including CCC, do not have a pacer system. The word does not appear anywhere in the 28-item Race Regulations, the Q&A, or the aid-stations pages. The only on-course companion mechanism is stationary "personal assistance" at two fixed CCC checkpoints (Champex, Vallorcine) -- see crew_rules. montblanc.utmb.world
Drop bag rules
One 30-litre drop bag is issued at bib pickup. It must be dropped off at the designated collection point in Courmayeur before the start. The runner's bag is then returned to them at Champex-Lac, and again (final retrieval) in Chamonix. No poles, valuables or fragile items permitted in the bag. Retrieval logistics may be delayed for runners who withdraw early. montblanc.utmb.world
Cutoff philosophy
Published as "MAX ALLOWED RACE TIME: 26 HOURS 30 MINUTES" from the official 09:00 start. The regulations clarify that intermediate and finish cutoffs are actually calculated from the LAST start wave's departure time (CCC 3, 09:30), so every runner -- regardless of their own wave -- must clear the same fixed clock times; a runner in an earlier wave effectively receives extra time (up to 27:00 for a 09:00 starter reaching the Saturday 12:00 PM finish cutoff). A runner must leave a checkpoint before its cutoff to continue, whatever their arrival time. montblanc.utmb.world
