After returning to Easton, runners head east for a second out-and-back, creating more opportunities to see fellow runners and crews.

Smooth, wide crushed-gravel rail trail with minimal elevation change. The Whittier Tunnel, around mile 8, is dark.

The race

What this one is

Ultra Fest is a flat, fast ultramarathon on the Palouse to Cascades rail trail, starting and finishing at the Easton Fire Station near Snoqualmie Pass. It offers a 25K, 50K, 50 mile, 100K and 100 mile, all out-and-backs on smooth crushed gravel along Lake Easton, the Yakima River and Keechelus Lake.

Through 2023 the race was called The Cascade Super Ultra.

Crew rules
Crews may access designated stations only: Stampede, Hyak, Easton and South Cle Elum. Do not crew runners at Golf Course Road: unauthorized support at non-designated locations may result in runner disqualification. Leashed dogs may be with crew at crew-accessible aid stations only. ultra-fest.com
Pacer rules
One pacer at a time is allowed from Easton to the finish. A pacer may switch at Golf Course Road only by drop-off/pick-up; cars may not be left there. Pacers must sign a waiver and wear a pacer bib. The race does not provide transportation for pacers. ultra-fest.com
Drop bag rules
Label every bag with runner name, bib number, and aid-station location. Keep each bag no larger than a small duffel. Bring bags to the start/finish race morning. Bags return as aid stations close and may not be back at Easton when you finish. The race does not ship unclaimed bags. Crew may retrieve eligible bags directly from aid stations. ultra-fest.com

From Easton, take I-90 west about 8.3 miles to Exit 62. Turn left toward Stampede Pass, drive about 0.7 mile, and park in the Palouse to Cascades State Park designated parking area on the right. Display your Discover Pass, then walk about 0.6 mile to the aid station.

Hyak mile 17.15 cutoff 12:00pm

From Easton, take I-90 west about 16.4 miles to Exit 54. Turn left, drive about 0.2 mile to the stop sign, turn left onto SR 906, and follow signs to the Hyak parking area.
