The course

Where it goes multi-loop · 14 aid stations · rust marks a stop your crew can reach

A short 2.2-mile lap out from Raven Lodge, followed by three 20-mile full laps of the same loop around Lake Raven.

The race

What this one is

A five-times-around, 20-mile loop course around Lake Raven in Huntsville State Park, East Texas: gently undulating singletrack on a bed of pine needles, wooden lake bridges, and (despite the name) very few rocks. Run as 5 full laps for the 100 Mile and a short 2-mile lap plus 3 full laps for the 100K, from the same start/finish at Raven Lodge.

First run in 1993. Tejas Trails (Joe and Joyce Prusaitis) took ownership of Rocky Raccoon in 2004; Chris and Krissy McWatters became race directors in 2015. A sub-30-hour finish in the 100 Mile qualifies a runner for the Western States 100 entry lottery.

Crew rules
Crew access confirmed 'Y' at every aid station on the official chart. Same rules as the 100 Mile: no generators at the race hub, limited parking, bring a bike or a drop-off driver. tejastrails.com
Pacer rules
Pacers allowed after the runner completes 49 miles (earliest pickup point is Nature Center aid station at mile 51.2 on this course). Runners 60 and older may have a pacer for their entire race. Pacers must start and end at an aid station. Only one pacer with a runner at a time. No muling. tejastrails.com
Drop bag rules
Same drop bag system as the 100 Mile: self-drop at every station; Tejas Trails delivers Gate and Dam Nation bags only (separate bags required for each); no delivery service to Nature Center or the start/finish. tejastrails.com
Cutoff philosophy
Generous cut-offs. Aid station cutoffs are only published for the final full lap, from mile 42.2 (Sunday 7:36 AM) through the mile 62.1 finish (Sunday 2:00 PM, 31 hours after the Saturday 7:00 AM mass start); earlier stations carry no published cutoff. tejastrails.com
