Starts and finishes at Fellin Park, only yards from the hot springs. The route includes Camp Bird Road, Silver Basin, Imogene Pass Road, Chicago Tunnel, Fort Peabody, Ptarmigan Lake, Richmond Trail, Ironton, Corkscrew Gulch, Gray Copper Trail, Weehawken Trail/Alpine Mine Overlook, Hayden Trail/Crystal Lake, Old Twin Peaks Trail, Silvershield Trail, Perimeter Trail/Lower Cascade Trail, Chief Ouray Mine Trail, and Old Horsethief Trail/Bridge of Heaven.

Fourteen climbs, with the high point at Fort Peabody, 13,365 ft. The race says the back 50 is harder than the front 50. Runners hole punch their bib at several unmanned out and backs to prove they completed the course.

The race

What this one is

A 102.1-mile run starting and finishing at Fellin Park in Ouray, Colorado, next to the hot springs. The route climbs about 41,862 feet through the San Juan Mountains on old mining roads and trails, with out-and-backs from Lower Camp Bird, Richmond, Ironton and Weehawken and several passes back through Fellin Park. Runners have 52 hours. The race calls itself low key, no frills and old school.

What it looks like out there

Somebody has been out there with a camera the tables say the climb is long. these say what long feels like.

Nobody has been out there with a camera or a microphone yet. A gap means nobody has found it, not that it is not out there. Seen a course preview or a film of this one? Send us the link.

Ultras change. We will tell you when this one does.

Cutoffs move, races get postponed, lotteries open and close. We read the race's own sources and record where every fact came from. Put your email in and we will send you what changed, and where we read it.

No account, and nothing to cancel.

What happens to your email. Nothing else. I do not sell it, and I will not send you anything except this race changing. One click gets you out.

I keep this catalog because the information is scattered and hard to trust. Telling you when it moves is the same job.
