Start at the Pine Creek Road venue in Pine Valley, run about a mile of asphalt road north to the Noble Canyon trailhead, climb the main Noble Canyon trail to Penny Pines, cross Sunrise Highway onto the Pacific Crest Trail, then the Big Laguna trail system past Rat Hole and around the east side of Big Laguna Lake, and come back down the same canyon to the finish.

The Noble Canyon 50K has traditionally been a hot race. Some of the sections between aid can be quite long and exposed, so carry adequate water. There are two highway crossings with crossing marshals, and the first and last mile of the race is on a road with blind turns.

Trail races in the mountains of east San Diego County: a 50K and a 15K that start and finish in Pine Valley and run the Noble Canyon trail in the Cleveland National Forest. A USATF sanctioned event, run under permit on National Forest land.
