The 100K course offers a scenic tour through the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The course is an out-and-back route, initially traveling downriver from Cascade Locks to the Multnomah Falls and Wahkeena Falls area, back to Cascade Locks, then upriver on the Pacific Crest Trail past Herman Creek to Wyeth Trailhead, then back to Cascade Locks for the finish. The trails feature a variety of surface types, primarily rocky semi-technical singletrack mixed with more smooth dirt singletrack. The course is generally very runnable, with many punchy hill climbs and some very rocky technical sections through the many open talus slopes. There are some extended, intermittent sections of paved pedestrian/bike path connectors and some rural road shoulder sections to connect some trail segments.
The whole course is rocky, semi-technical singletrack mixed with smoother dirt singletrack, with punchy hill climbs and rocky technical sections through open talus slopes, plus some paved pedestrian/bike-path and rural road-shoulder connectors. Trekking poles are permitted on this course; runners are asked to be mindful of other runners on the out-and-back sections when using them.
Gorge Waterfalls 100K is an out-and-back ultramarathon through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, starting and finishing at Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon. The course runs downriver to the Multnomah Falls and Wahkeena Falls area and back, then upriver on the Pacific Crest Trail past Herman Creek to Wyeth Trailhead and back, threading past more than a dozen named waterfalls along rocky, semi-technical singletrack, smoother dirt singletrack, and some paved path and road-shoulder connectors.
The Gorge Waterfalls race began in 2011 as a 50K, with a 100K option added in 2014. The 2017 wildfires that swept the Columbia River Gorge put the race on hold, and the pandemic extended the gap before it returned. Daybreak Racing now directs the race, in partnership with Freetrail.

daybreakracing.comNobody has been out there with a camera or a microphone yet. A gap means nobody has found it, not that it is not out there. Seen a course preview or a film of this one? Send us the link.
Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.
This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.
Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.
We want the address of the file the race publishes, not the file. We download it from there so the page can say where the line came from.
We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.
