The course

Where it goes multi-loop · 22 aid stations · rust marks a stop your crew can reach

Course line from the race's own GPX. Source file. Year of this file not known.

Three loops around William H. Harsha Lake, run counterclockwise from the Indian Mound shelter. The race ends at 11:30 pm on Sunday.

Rolling trail with no significant climbs and many smaller rollers. Several wide creek crossings, with a rope across the deeper ones. Open sun meadow crossings and some running on the shoulder of the park road. Sunscreen and bug spray are a must.

The race

What this one is

Loops around William H. Harsha Lake in East Fork State Park, near Bethel, Ohio. The 50K is one loop, the 100K is two and the 100 miler is three, all counterclockwise from the Indian Mound shelter. The 15 miler is an out and back to the first manned aid station. The course follows mountain bike trails, hiking trails, a short stretch of park road and a good share of the Steve Newman Worldwalker Perimeter Trail, with lake views, a waterfall in a pine forest, open meadows and several creek crossings.

Crew rules
Crew access depends on the aid station. Crews are allowed at the start/finish and Reisinger Boat Ramp. Crews are allowed at the Nature Center only if they park in the campground entrance overflow lot. On the second and third loops crews are also allowed at Twin Bridges and Little Miami River, and not on the first loop. One crew vehicle per runner, with a CREW pass displayed. Park only in designated spots, never on the grass. Parking violations by a crew can get the runner disqualified. docs.google.com
Pacer rules
Pacers can join from the second loop. One pacer per runner at a time. Pacers cannot mule for their runner, must sign the waiver and must wear a pacer bib. Pacers can be swapped at aid stations, but the race cannot transport pacers. Pacers follow the same parking rules as crews. docs.google.com
Drop bag rules
Mark your bag with your name, bib number, aid station name and distance. Waterproof it. No hard cases. Drop bags go to the start/finish, the Nature Center (no larger than 24 in x 16 in x 16 in) and Little Miami River (small bags only, for a dry sock change after the last large creek crossing of the loop). docs.google.com
Cutoff philosophy
Cutoffs are for the safety of runners and volunteers, and to obey park rules and permits. The 40 hour cutoff is generous and should let most runners finish. You must leave the aid station before the cutoff. docs.google.com

These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.

Ultras change. We will tell you when this one does.

Cutoffs move, races get postponed, lotteries open and close. We read the race's own sources and record where every fact came from. Put your email in and we will send you what changed, and where we read it.

No account, and nothing to cancel.

What happens to your email. Nothing else. I do not sell it, and I will not send you anything except this race changing. One click gets you out.

I keep this catalog because the information is scattered and hard to trust. Telling you when it moves is the same job.
