The course

Where it goes loop · 15 aid stations · rust marks a stop your crew can reach

A 100-mile loop from Mission Ridge. It climbs through the forest to Mission Peak and Tronsen Ridge, adds a technical 8-mile lollipop in an old burn toward Blewett Pass, then goes on past Mission Creek, Number 2 Canyon, the summit of Horse Lake Mountain and Peavine Canyon. The descent down Devil's Gulch leads to Mission Creek, and a final climb up the Peavine Trail leads back toward Mission Ridge. It runs overnight.

Remote course, with up to 13 miles between some full aid stations.

The race

What this one is

Devil's Gulch is a trail race at Mission Ridge Ski Area above Wenatchee, Washington, in the Eastern Cascades. It offers a 100 Miler, a 50 Miler and a Half Marathon, plus a free kids race. The courses climb through Ponderosa pine forest to Mission Peak and Tronsen Ridge, with views from the Enchantment Plateau to the volcanoes, rock hoodoos, and creek crossings on rocky, technical singletrack and smoother trail.

The idea for the race came from Jessie McClurg of Banshee Running. Evergreen Trail Runs built on that idea and grew it into an event in the Eastern Cascades.

Crew rules
Crew access is limited. The preferred crew stops are Sand Creek, Number 2 Canyon, Devil's Spur and the start and finish at Mission Ridge. Mt. Lillian is not recommended for crew because of long drive times. All aid station access means driving back through Wenatchee and/or Hwy 2 and Hwy 97, and Google Maps routes through backcountry forest roads are impassable. Dirt roads are washboarded, so an SUV with ground clearance is best. Runners may not accept aid or pick up a pacer outside designated aid stations. evergreentrailruns.com
Pacer rules
Pacers are allowed for the 100 Miler only. They may start at or after the first stop at Number 2 Canyon aid. Pacers must be on foot, only one pacer at a time per runner is allowed, and they must check in at race HQ, sign the liability waiver and pick up a pacer bib. Runners carry their own gear and water. evergreentrailruns.com
Drop bag rules
Drop bags must be labeled with name, bib number and aid station, and dropped off at the Friday pre-race meeting. Keep them under 20L. They are at Mt. Lillian (miles 15 and 25), Sand Creek (42), Number 2 Canyon (53 and 65), Devil's Spur (76 and 101) and Mission Creek (88). Bags are returned to Mission Ridge as aid stations close, by 8:30pm Sunday. Runners who drop are responsible for picking up their bag. evergreentrailruns.com
Cutoff philosophy
The generous cutoffs allow you to run your own race at your own pace. evergreentrailruns.com

What happens to your email. Nothing else. I do not sell it, and I will not send you anything except this race changing. One click gets you out.

I keep this catalog because the information is scattered and hard to trust. Telling you when it moves is the same job.
