A single 6.3 mile loop on dirt singletrack and doubletrack through old growth coastal rainforest with one creek crossing.

Most of the mileage is very runnable, smooth dirt trail with some shallow tree roots and rocks.

The race

What this one is

Cape Mountain Trail Runs are 50K, 25K and 10K loop races in the Siuslaw National Forest, 15 miles north of Florence on the Oregon coast. The courses run old growth rainforest, creek canyons and coastal headland meadows on dirt singletrack above the Pacific, from Horse Creek Campground.

Since 2003 the event has been a local fundraiser for the Siuslaw High School Cross Country program in Florence. It is the second of three races in the Oregon Coast Trail Series.
