The "Mega Hike" & Ultra Run. Tackle one full loop of the Hickory Run course.
The race director's own description: "I would think it would be fair to describe this as a mid level difficulty course." The course is 90% single track and multi-use trail with about one mile of gravel road, crossing a boulder field and the mile-long, very difficult "Shades of Death" trail section, with roughly 4,000 ft of climbing over the loop.
The Boulder Field Ultra runs three distances -- an 18-mile hike/run, a 50K, and a 100K -- on a figure-eight loop through Hickory Run State Park near Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The 100K is two full laps of the same 50K loop. The course crosses the park's namesake boulder field and a rugged, mile-long stretch called the Shades of Death Trail, climbing roughly 4,000 feet per 50K loop over mostly singletrack and multi-use trail with only about a mile of gravel road.
First run in 2016, Boulder Field has been held every September since at Hickory Run State Park.

One person has been out there with a camera or a microphone.
These are other people's work and we link straight to them. Watching costs nothing and needs no account. More of them: every race we hold, on film.
Nobody sees it until we have read it. No account, no sign-in.
This changes nothing on the page on its own. Somebody checks it against the race first.
Somebody watches it before it goes anywhere near this page. What we are after is footage of this course, on the ground. If it would be just as true of any other race, it is not this.
We want the address of the file the race publishes, not the file. We download it from there so the page can say where the line came from.
We read every one of these and we write back. Every fact here carries the source it came from, and the way a wrong one gets fixed is a person checking it against what you tell us.
NavRun builds your pacing from your own training, then turns it into a plan your crew can follow: when to leave and where to park.
